Prodigious Victorian batsman Will Pucovski has suffered another concussion after being hit on the head by a cricket ball.

The 23-year-old has been concussed up to 10 times in recent years, which have affected his confidence and hampered his efforts to nail down a spot in Australia's Test side.

"Cricket Victoria confirms Will Pucovski received a knock to the head in training with Victoria last week," a statement read.

"Will is currently managing his recovery in consultation with CV's medical staff.

"We look forward to having him back at training as soon as he's recovered."

Pucovski made his Test debut against India at the SCG in January, impressing with a first innings 62 as he teamed up with David Warner at the top of the order.

But the generational talent injured his shoulder during the match and was ruled out of the fourth and deciding Test of the series.

Pucovski later needed surgery to fix the problematic shoulder.

In April, Pucovski was among a number of big names, including Travis Head and Matthew Wade, to miss out on new Cricket Australia contracts.

Victoria are yet to begin their Sheffield Shield season due to border restrictions but are expected to clash with NSW in a series of matches soon.

Australia have not played a Test since January but Marcus Harris replaced Pucovski for that match and could be in line to partner Warner for the start of the Ashes on December 8.

After just 24 first-class games, Pucovski is averaging 53.4 and has smashed six hundreds for a top score of 255 not out.
