AUSTRALIA v ENGLAND, FOURTH TEST, DAY ONE:

Score: Australia 3-126.

Summary: Persistent rain frustrated both sides, but SCG ground staff worked hard to ensure 46.5 overs were squeezed in. David Warner, Marcus Harris and Marnus Labuschagne all got in and out, leaving the match evenly balanced.

Man of the moment: Usman Khawaja. The left-hander's long-awaited recall was given a tick of approval by 25,078 fans. Khawaja, who received the loudest cheer of the day as he walked out to bat, finished unbeaten on four.

Key moment: Mark Wood knocked over the world's top-ranked batter Labuschagne for the second Test in a row. A rising delivery found the edge and sailed to the keeper, reducing Australia to 3-117.

Stat of the day: Stuart Broad has dismissed Warner 13 times in Test cricket, more than any other bowler.

Quote of the day: "He's like a kid in a candy store," Warner said of Khawaja, who has generated no shortage of energy among the squad this summer.
