A snapshot of day five of the fourth Ashes Test between Australia and England at the SCG.

AUSTRALIA v ENGLAND, FOURTH TEST, DAY FIVE:

Score: Australia 8(dec)-416 & 6(dec)-265 drew with England 294 & 9-270

Summary: Australia took three wickets in the first session to give them hope of taking a 4-0 lead in the series. However a rain delay after lunch stunted the hosts' momentum, along with two lengthy Ben Stokes' partnerships with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow fell in the final hour, but with spinners only able to bowl under lights Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad were able to survive a nervous final two overs.

Man of the moment: Jonny Bairstow. Battling on with an injured finger after being struck by Pat Cummins in the first innings, he backed up his century with a match-saving 105-ball knock.

Key moment: Marcus Harris' failure to pouch Ben Stokes at short leg just before lunch. It was a difficult chance as it came off the face of the bat, but Harris got hands to it and should have taken it. Stokes went on to face another 64 balls as England held on for the draw.

Stat of the day: England's effort to hold on for a draw marked just the 24th time in Test history a team has been nine wickets down in a fourth innings, but managed to save the match.
