Heat to host Sixers in revised BBL draw

3 minute read

Brisbane will host the Sydney Sixers at the Gabba on January 19 after organisers rescheduled their BBL clash that had been postponed due to the COVID outbreak.

Brisbane's postponed Big Bash League clash against the Sydney Sixers will be played at the Gabba on January 19.

The match was meant to be played last week at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast but had to be postponed following a COVID outbreak within the Heat squad.

The decision means Brisbane's clash with the table-topping Perth Scorchers will now be played at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on Monday.

With Brisbane playing the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Sunday, they will now have back-to-back games in the Victorian capital before returning to Queensland to face the Sixers.

Four of the last six matches of the regular season will now be played in Melbourne with organisers relocating most clubs to Victoria for the remainder of the campaign.

"The challenges of the pandemic have led us to making some difficult decisions, but our priority has always been the safe and successful completion of the season," BBL general manager Alistair Dobson said.

"We believe the two rounds of revisions to the schedule announced in recent days give all involved the best chance of doing so."

Arrangements for this summer's final series are yet to be announced.
