Teen's course record eight-under round

3 minute read

Fifteen-year-old Hye Park shot eight-under-par 65 to open the Australian Girls' Championship with a five-shot lead.

The future looks bright for 15-year-old golfer Hye Park who shot a course-record, eight under par 65 to dominate the first round of the Australian Girls' Championship.

Park was 10 under through 15 holes with 10 birdies before bogeys at the 16th and 17th at Coolangatta-Tweed Heads River course on Wednesday.

The hot round left the year nine student five shots clear of nearest rival, Min A Yoon of South Korea.

Also Korean-born, Park relocated to Queensland three years ago.

"My putting was so great, so I wasn't that nervous," Park said.

"I am so happy but the last two holes really annoyed me."
