Young Australian Ryan Ruffels has had yet another frustrating near miss as he chases his maiden professional victory and a spot in golf's big leagues.

The 21-year-old former amateur star missed a five-foot birdie putt on the last hole that would have put him into a playoff in Canada's McKenzie Tour event in Windsor, Ontario.

Ruffels, who turned pro at age 17, shot a closing 66 to finish tied second at 19 under, one shot behind American Dawson Armstrong (66).

It was his third runner-up finish this year, following two on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, including a playoff defeat.

He was also runner-up twice on that tour in 2017.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
