Brett Coletta has a US PGA Tour card in his sights after grabbing a share of the lead in the secondary tour's TPC Colorado Championship going into the final round.

Coletta, a member of Golf Australia's rookie pro squad, produced a great back nine to shoot a career-low seven-under 65 third round to be tied with Argentina's Nelson Ledesma at 13-under 203.

The top 25 players on the Korn Ferry Tour - formerly web.com Tour - at the end of the season earn promotion to the PGA Tour in 2019-20.

Another Australian, Rhein Gibson, has already ensured that he will be in that group but 23-year-old Coletta has a big chance to join him if he can win on Sunday.

He went into the event in Berthoud, Colorado ranked 66th on the tour and victory would put him in the top 20.

Coletta made six birdies on the back nine including a chip in at the 17th.

The Victorian has won a professional tournament before, but that was as an amateur at the Queensland Open in 2016 and he was also runner-up in the New South Wales Open that season.

As an amateur he was runner-up in the Asia Pacific Championship in the same year.

Ledesma, the solo leader after the first and second rounds, carded his second consecutive 69.

He is seeking his second win on the Korn Ferry Tour and can lock up his PGA Tour card with a finish of three-way tie for fourth or better on Sunday.
