Korean golf pair duel for Australian Open

3 minute read

South Korea's Inbee Park enters Sunday's final round of the Women's Australian Open with a three-stroke lead from compatriot Ayean Cho.

South Korea's golfing megastar Inbee Park isn't being rude.

It's just that she doesn't care who is her main rival for the Women's Australian Open golf championship.

Park, a seven-time major winner, enters Sunday's final round at Royal Adelaide with a three-shot cushion from emerging compatriot Ayean Cho.

Park is 15-under and Cho, a 19-year-old rising star, is 12-under.

The last pairing looms as a Korean duel for the title, but Park doesn't see it that way.

"It doesn't matter who the competitor is, who I am playing with tomorrow," the former world No.1 said.

"Golf is an individual sport and you just play your game.

"If somebody plays better than you, that's too bad. So, try to play the best in your game and just hope that's enough."

Behind Park and Cho, a two-time winner on the Korean tour when last season's rookie of the year, is American Marina Alex at 11-under.

French duo Perrine Delacour and Celine Boutier are both 10-under, a stroke ahead of a quartet including Swede Madelene Sangstrom.

Perth's Hannah Green (seven-under) will have to produce an extraordinary final round to claim her national Open.

Green is the best-placed local with world No.8 Minjee Lee, the top-ranked Australian in a field boasting 15 major winners, and 21-year-old compatriot Robyn Choi at three-under.
