Two major ladies golf tournaments in Australia scheduled for February next year have been postponed due to COVD-19 travel restrictions.

Next year's Australian Ladies Classic and the Women's NSW Open have been postponed due to the ongoing travel restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday the Ladies European Tour announced both events set to be hosted in Australia in February next year have been rescheduled for 2022.

The Australian Ladies Classic at Bonville was the first event of the 2020 LET season and was captured by Australian amateur Stephanie Kyriacou, who has since turned professional.

The Women's NSW Open has been a fixture on the LET for the past three years.

The LET said the decision was made after discussions with the ALPG, Golf NSW and other key stakeholders.

LET chief executive Alexandra Armas said it was an "extremely difficult decision" to postponed the events.

"We are disappointed to announce our decision to postpone both popular tournaments for the coming year as we look to confirm our 2021 schedule," Armas said in a statement.

"Our players have become used to starting their season in Australia..."

ALPG chief executive Karen Lunn and Golf NSW CEO Stuart Fraser shared the LET's disappointment but both agreed the right decision has been made.

"While this has been an incredibly difficult decision, logistically there are just too many variables and challenges to move forward as planned," Lunn said.

Fraser said his organisation would now turn its attention to 2022.

"Golf NSW looks forward to working with the LET and ALPG to ensure these two tournaments return to the calendar in 2022," he said.
