The Kookaburras will face old rivals the Netherlands in the semi-finals of the Hockey World Cup in India.

A 2-1 win over the host nation on Thursday booked the fourth-ranked Dutch side's spot in the last four where they will meet defending champions who beat France 3-0 on Wednesday in a repeat of the 2014 decider that the Kookaburras won 6-1

Colin Batch's team are aiming to become the first nation to claim three successive world titles and have recorded a record 17 straight wins following victory over the French.

In Thursday's other quarter-finals third-ranked Belgium beat Germany 2-1 and England, who shocked world No.2 Argentina by the same scoreline.

Belgium will take on England in the opening semi-final on Saturday before the Kookaburras meet the Netherlands at 2350 (AEDT) in a repeat of the Sydney Olympics final where the Dutch won gold.
