Injured Cobden to miss netball World Cup

3 minute read

Adelaide Thunderbirds' English recruit Beth Cobden has suffered a knee injury and will miss the netball World Cup.

England midcourter Beth Cobden will miss the netball World Cup after damaging a knee while playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds.

Cobden tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during the Thunderbirds' Super Netball loss last weekend.

The 26-year-old will require a knee reconstruction, ruling her out of the rest of the Super Netball season and the World Cup in Liverpool starting July 12.

Cobden was part of the England team who won the gold medal at last year's Commonwealth Games.

"We are saddened by the news regarding Beth's season-ending injury," Thunderbirds general manager Melody Cooper said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Our priority right now is supporting Beth."

The Thunderbirds were also exploring finding a replacement player, Cooper said.
