Polly Farmer's stellar Aussie Rules career

Graham 'Polly' Farmer won multiple medals, achieved several firsts and was a star of the three WAFL, VFL and AFL teams he played for between 1953 and 1971.

GRAHAM FARMER'S AUSSIE RULES CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

* 1953: Played the first of 176 games for East Perth, aged 18

* 1955: Signed with Richmond, but never played for the Tigers because East Perth refused to let him go

* 1956: Won many medals including the first of three Sandover Medals

* 1962: Moved east to play for Geelong, which paid a large sum to East Perth to secure his services

* 1963: Won a premiership medal with Geelong

* 1965-67: Captained Geelong

* 1968-71: Played 79 games for West Perth, leading the club to two premierships in the captain-coach role

* 1973-75: Coached Geelong for three seasons

* Played a total of 356 games in his senior career including 101 with Geelong

* Named fairest and best in 10 of his 19 seasons, earning the accolade at each of the three clubs he played for

* Named three times in the All-Australian team

* First ruck in the AFL Team of the Century, the WAFL Team of the Century, the Teams of the Century for East Perth, Geelong and West Perth and in the Indigenous Team of the Century

* First Australian football player to receive a Queen's honour, becoming a Member of the British Empire in 1971

* Among the original Legends to be inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
