Adelaide to host Matildas friendly

3 minute read

The Matildas are set to play South American giants Chile in a two-match series friendly in Adelaide later this year.

For the first time in ten years, The Matildas will be returning to Adelaide for a friendly match against Chile.

Coopers Stadium will host the second game of the two-match series on November 12.

The Matildas will take on Chile at Bankwest Stadium in NSW on November 9 for the first match.

Premier Steven Marshall said it was thrilling news for the state.

"This team is inspiring young women around the nation," Mr Marshall said.

"It's fantastic that we'll have another opportunity to see some world-class football right here in our state."

It will be the second time The Matildas have played on home soil since returning from the FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Matilda's head coach Ante Milicic said it was fantastic to secure these international friendlies.

"Chile performed admirably at this year's FIFA Women's World Cup," Mr Milicic said.

"They will provide a strong challenge for us as we seek to develop as a unit leading up to our Tokyo 2020 Olympic Qualifiers in February next year."
