Sydney to Hobart race gets haze-free start

3 minute read

The Sydney to Hobart yacht race will start in 10-15 knot north-easterly breezes.

The 75th Sydney to Hobart race's fleet of 157 yachts will set out under smoke haze-free conditions and moderate winds.

The Bureau of Meteorology expects the race to start in 10-15 knot north-easterly breezes which will strengthen later in the afternoon and into the evening.

A mild southerly change is forecast sometime on Thursday night, with no really heavy weather expected until at least Sunday.

The fleet, which is the biggest since the 50th race in 1994, will start across four lines on Sydney Harbour at 1pm AEDT.
