Horn-Tszyu boxing bout set to be announced

3 minute read

The junior middleweight boxing bout between Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu is expected to be formally announced this week, with the fight set to go ahead in April.

The much anticipated boxing bout between Jeff Horn and Tim Tsyzu is set to be formally announced later this week, with five different areas in contention to stage the fight.

Horn's promoter Dean Lonergan said on Sunday pretty much all the major points had been agreed upon by the two camps.

Lonergan said he had agreed to drop his original demand for a rematch clause and Tszyu's promoter Matt Rose was now prepared for the fight to be scheduled for 10 rounds rather than the 12 he initially asked for.

The two promoters will meet in Brisbane on Monday, with a formal announcement of the fight expected in midweek.

Lonergan said he sent Rose a co-promotional agreement last week and they would go over the finer details on Monday.

It could be another month before the venue is finalised.

Bankwest Stadium in Sydney and RAC Arena in Perth are among the venues under consideration to stage the junior middleweight contest.

Brisbane, Townsville and Canberra are other areas in with a chance of hosting the promotion headlined by the bout between world ranked middleweight and former WBO welterweight champion Horn and world rated junior middleweight Tszyu.
