Australia have endured a difficult tournament at the 2020 wheelchair rugby quad nations.
The Steelers won just one match, in overtime, from five outings at the three-team tournament featuring hosts Great Britain and the United States.
The top ranked Aussies rounded out their campaign in Leicester, England, with a disappointing 61-53 defeat to the British.
"We started off not too bad, but we made it difficult for ourselves in that second quarter," Steelers coach Brad Dubberley said.
"It's hard to win a semi-final with six turnovers (conceded) in a quarter."
The Steelers will arrive home on Tuesday to regroup before next month's 2020 Paralympics test event at Yoyogi Stadium.
Australia have won back-to-back Paralympic gold medals in London and Rio.
World No.2 United States defeated Great Britain 53-42 in the quad nations final.
