Tim Tszyu wants to knock out Bowen Morgan next month in their Sydney stadium fight before lining up his next one against one of the "top boys" in his division.

Tim Tszyu is looking to make a statement in next month's fight with Bowen Morgan as he positions himself for a world-title shot.

The undefeated Tszyu will headline the first Sydney stadium fight since 2006, taking on the tough New Zealand fighter at Bankwest Stadium on December 16.

Tszyu says he will be going for a knockout on the big stage.

"I am going to be looking for it of course," the 25-year-old said on Wednesday.

"I'm at that stage in my career now where I am confident in my ability and I don't want to tip and tap anymore; I want to take him out."

Tszyu's last fight was a TKO victory over former world champion Jeff Horn in Townsville in August.

The Sydneysider said he felt he'd improved since that outing.

"All I want to do is improve and throughout my fights you've seen that.

"Every time I step in I get better and in this fight you will see the best Tim Tszyu out there."

Tszyu will start hot favourite against 31-year-old Morgan, whose wins have come against lower-level opposition in New Zealand for a 21-1, 11 KOs record.

Morgan's only career defeat came against Australian fighter Kris George in 2016.

But Tszyu felt Morgan wouldn't make it easy for him.

"He's tough and he makes things awkward and he's come in with attitude of there's no loss for him ... and that always becomes a dangerous fight."

Ranked in the top eight at junior middleweight in all boxing organisations and No.2 in the WBO, Tszyu wants to challenge for a world title against champions American Jermell Charlo and Brazilian Patrick Teixeira.

Tszyu could become a mandatory challenger to WBO No.1 Teixeira with a victory.

"I haven't even thought about what is going to happen next but hopefully it's international calibre," he said.

"I want the top 10, top five, even the top boys in my division."

It is the first Sydney stadium fight since Anthony Mundine first fought Danny Green back in 2006 while Tsyzu's father Kostya claimed the IBF world super lightweight title at Parramatta Stadium against Hugo Pineda back in 1996.

The card also features ex-NRL star Paul Gallen against UFC legend Kiwi Mark Hunt over six rounds.
