Former Brisbane Broncos executive Terry Reader will be the new CEO of the Dolphins, after he spearheaded the club's bid to join the NRL for 2023.

Former Brisbane chief commercial officer Terry Reader will be the Dolphins' first CEO after being installed as boss of the NRL's newest club.

Just a day out from the expected appointment of Wayne Bennett as coach, the Dolphins board confirmed a new club structure on Wednesday.

Reader will head up the club's administration for their 2023 start, after leading their successful bid that won over the NRL's head office.

A long-time Broncos official, Reader spent 15 years at the club working as their chief strategy officer and head of commercial.

He spent time at Norths Devils rebuilding the club to the point where they won this year's Queensland Cup, before moving to the Dolphins last July.

It's likely he will be one of several former Broncos figures working at the club alongside Brisbane's foundation coach in Bennett.

"It was a privilege to lead the bid and certainly a great honour to begin this role as CEO as we look to bring the Dolphins NRL club to life," Reader said.

"I've been fortunate to gain experience from grassroots sport through to the elite level over more than two decades in sport.

"It's been a pleasure to work with the Dolphins team for the last 16 months as we've developed this NRL bid, which opens another door for this very successful club."

The Redcliffe-based club's structure will see Reader report to the Dolphins Group CEO Tony Murphy, who is also a former player at the club from the Brisbane Rugby League days.

The NRL club will also have a six-member board, with long-term Dolphins official and former player and coach Bob Jones to sit on that board.
