Parramatta's inability to seal the re-signing of Jarryd Hayne could open the door for NRL rivals St George Illawarra to pounce for his services.

Jarryd Hayne could fall into St George Illawarra's lap if Parramatta fail to re-sign the NRL star.

The Dragons believe they can offer a $500,000 a year deal to the former NSW and Australia outside back for next season, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The cross-code star revealed last week he was still waiting for a contract two weeks out from the Eels returning to training, as they reportedly attempt to off-load several big-name players to make room for him.
