Peachey keen on Titans centres spot

Never mind the competition, Tyrone Peachey has expressed confidence he's the man to shine in the centres at his new NRL club Gold Coast.

Tyrone Peachey doesn't see any problem with declaring he wants to make his mark at Gold Coast in the centres.

The Titans' recruit has been spending most of his pre-season at his new NRL club at left centre.

The two starting centre positions are among the most hotly contested spots at the Titans with Peachey in a battle with Dale Copley, Brenko Lee and Brian Kelly for the two starting positions in the backline.

The 27-year-old, who joined his Titans teammates playing Santa for sick kids at a Gold Coast hospital on Wednesday, says competition does not faze him.

"There was a lot (of competition) at Penrith too, but I seemed to get the position," Peachey said.

"I've got a lot of confidence in myself."

Peachey began pre-season with the Titans three weeks earlier than expected and said it was about making him as comfortable as possible with his new teammates.

The fact he was already familiar with some of the methods of Titans coach Garth Brennan from their days together at Penrith was making the transition a lot easier than he expected.

"Just names of plays and defensive systems, stuff like that, it was a lot easier to transfer to a new club," he said.

"I thought it was going to be a lot harder and I'm glad I did come in earlier because I would be struggling if I didn't."

Peachey has already denied reports he tried to back out of the three-year deal to join the Titans earlier this year, and is certainly giving the impression of being happy in his new surroundings.

"What would you rather have? The mountains or the beach?," Peachey said.

"We're pretty lucky ... the missus and the kid are loving it, so that's all that matters."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
