Sydney Roosters star Latrell Mitchell has been fined for failing to leave a NSW pub.

The Taree-born player was at Old Bar Tavern, near Taree, about midnight on Saturday when two groups began fighting.

Police say a criminal infringement notice for failing to quit a licensed premises was issued to a 21-year-old man who allegedly argued with security.

Mitchell's club advised the NRL integrity unit of the matter, the NRL says.

"The club will now determine if any further action is warranted," a spokesman said.
