Robinson tells Mitchell to move on in NRL

Sydney Roosters' star Latrell Mitchell was fined by police for failing to leave a pub and that is punishment enough for coach Trent Robinson.

Sydney Roosters star Latrell Mitchell's brush with the law was one of those "small reminders" of how to behave in public, according to coach Trent Robinson.

Mitchell was issued with a criminal infringement notice this week after failing to quit a licensed premises near his hometown of Taree last Saturday.

And the fine was punishment enough for Robinson.

"We've dealt with it and there's a fair bit of punishment that goes with those things coming out publicly," Robinson said on Friday.

"But when someone asks to move on, you've got to move on."

It was alleged Mitchell argued with security as a group of men were ejected following a fight at Old Bar Tavern on the mid north coast of NSW.

Robinson described it as a minor incident and urged the Kangaroos and NSW State of Origin representative to heed the lesson and move on.

"It's a small incident but he knows what's right and wrong and that's why there was a fine in relation to that," Robinson said.

"We've discussed it internally, talked about it and we've moved on.

"There's lessons to be learned in that for him, in a public place. Then we've gone, 'Okay, let's get moving again.

"So yeah, there's small reminders that come along the way and that was one."

The off-field incident is the first blemish in what has otherwise been an impressive past three weeks for the defending premiers.

The Roosters have won three straight since being downed by South Sydney in round one, including last week's 36-4 romp over Brisbane.

And they've done it without a number of key players, having lost Cooper Cronk, Jake Friend and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves at different times.

Only Friend remains on sidelines for Saturday's match against Cronulla.

"We had some incremental improvement over the first three rounds and I thought we made a bigger improvement last round," Robinson said.

"That's what we wanted to see. We thought we were going along okay but we needed to get better and we did in that game.

"And that's what we'll be looking for tomorrow night."
