Reynolds cleared of serious knee damage

Wests Tigers' Josh Reynolds could be back on the NRL field within three weeks after scans revealed only a medial ligament strain in his right knee.

Wests Tigers playmaker Josh Reynolds has been cleared of serious damage to his knee and could return to NRL action within three weeks.

Scans have confirmed Reynolds suffered only a strain to the medial ligament in his right knee after he limped from the field early in Saturday's win over the Gold Coast.

The former NSW State of Origin five-eighth was being assessed further on Monday but it's understood the Tigers are hopeful he will only miss between two to four games.

Reynolds' absence will, however, open the door for Benji Marshall to reclaim the Tigers' No.6 jersey.

Marshall is expected to return from a hamstring injury on Saturday night against the Sydney Roosters, with the club having taken a cautious approach since he last played in round three.

Marshall had earlier beaten Reynolds out for the five-eighth role, forcing the former Canterbury half to start the season in reserve grade.

It comes after Reynolds has had a rotten run of injuries since joining the Tigers, playing only five games last year due to hamstring and shoulder problems.
