North Queensland coach Paul Green says the club is feeling for popular playmaker Te Maire Martin after scans this week revealed a small bleed on the brain.

North Queensland coach Paul Green says it would be unfair to speculate on Te Maire Martin's NRL playing future until more is known about the cause of his brain bleeding.

"We're still getting to the bottom of it and how we're going to manage it going forward," said Green on Thursday.

Fullback Martin reported severe headaches and scans revealed the small bleed that has him spending days resting at home and sidelined indefinitely.

He will seek more specialist help this week and Green said no evidence of a possible cause had been found when looking back at game and training footage.

"Outside of that I'm not sure what else we can do," Green said.

"There's other (possible) causes for it too, so we're working through that.

"He's popular among the playing group; there's a fair bit of concern for him."

Martin will be replaced in the No.1 jersey by Jordan Kahu against Gold Coast on Friday night, with Tom Opacic promoted into the centres.
