Brisbane have reportedly signed hooker James Segeyaro until the end of the 2019 NRL season.

Segeyaro was believed to have been released from the remainder of his one-year contract with Cronulla on Friday to make the switch to the Broncos.

The 28-year-old would fill the void of Broncos' rake Andrew McCullough, who injured his knee in training on Monday.

While McCullough won't need surgery on the injury, he will be sidelined for the next six weeks.

The move would be a relief for Segeyaro, who has been playing for Cronulla's feeder team Newtown in the NSW Cup after being squeezed out of the Sharks' top squad due to salary cap restrictions.

Segeyaro could be be available for selection when the Broncos host Sydney Roosters at Suncorp Stadium on May 17.
