Wests Tigers fullback Corey Thompson has resisted the temptation to reunite with Ivan Cleary at Penrith and signed a two-year NRL contract extension.

The 29-year-old on Wednesday inked a deal which will see him remain at the Tigers until the end of the 2021 season.

Thompson was courted by Cleary for a move to Sydney's west having established a strong connection during their time together at Concord last year.

"It feels great to re-sign with the club and I can't wait to be here for another two years," Thompson said.

His re-signing also represents one of chief executive Justin Pascoe's first acts since returning following his six-month suspension for salary cap infringements.

"Corey plays with a tremendous attitude on the field but he also has an exceptional attitude off it as well and we're very pleased to have someone of his character as part of our team," Pascoe said.

Coach Michael Maguire last week moved Thompson to fullback ahead of skipper Moses Mbye in a clear sign of how highly he is rated by the organisation.
