Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks has escaped suspension for kneeing Manly forward Jack Gosiewski in their loss to the Sea Eagles.

Brooks is instead looking at a maximum $1800 fine after being hit with a grade-one contrary conduct charge by the NRL match review committee.

It means Brooks is free to play Newcastle next week.
