Manly NRL hooker Fainu caught up in brawl

3 minute read

Manly have passed on information to the NRL's integrity unit after hooker Manase Fainu was at a function in which a brawl broke out.

The NRL integrity unit is aware of Manly hooker Manase Fainu's involvement in a brawl at a church function.

Fainu was at a church dance in Liverpool on Friday night when he was caught up in the brawl, which is being investigated by police after a man was allegedly stabbed.

The Sea Eagles passed information about the incident onto the NRL integrity unit on Monday, but there is a belief Fainu has little to worry about.

The 21-year-old recently had shoulder surgery and has his arm in a sling, restricting his movement.

It's understood Fainu will meet with police this week over the matter to give his version of events, after previously wanting to do so over the weekend.

It's not suggested he had any involvement in the stabbing.

Fainu is highly rated by coach Des Hasler and those at Manly.

He will be the club's first-choice No.9 in 2020, after Hasler released Apisai Koroisau from his contract to allow Fainu's progression.

He was, however, banned from the opening round of the 2019 season by the NRL, after pleading guilty last September to recording a sex act without consent.

No conviction was recorded in court for that matter, after a magistrate took into account that Fainu had immediately deleted the recording, and other factors.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
