Star Storm winger Josh Addo-Carr says he's "all-in" for his final NRL season with Melbourne, despite his looming shift home to Sydney.

The Test flyer announced late Monday he was committed to the Storm for 2020, ending speculation he would be granted an imminent release.

With a baby coming in June, the 24-year-old is looking to move to be closer to family but Addo-Carr has pledged to give his all to the Storm and won't be asking for any special favours.

"I don't want to let my teammates down by spending too much time in Sydney," Addo-Carr said.

"I want to give myself the best chance to perform for the team and spend as much time down here preparing for games and if I stay up in Sydney too long I might get a bit lazy.

"I'm definitely all-in - that's just me - I like to compete and I don't want them to think I'm better than them or anything, I just want to win a premiership."

Addo-Carr said telling Storm coach Craig Bellamy he wanted out was nerve-wracking, particularly coming on the heels of fellow winger Suliasi Vunivalu's announcement he planned to defect to rugby.

But he said Bellamy hadn't been supportive from the get-go.

"The most nervous thing was going to tell Bellsa (Bellamy) that I wanted to leave," he said.

"It was a massive relief when I told him and he understood - he's a big family man."

The NSW Origin representative is still trying to finalise his split from player manager Chris Orr which has stalled any future contract negotiations.

"I wouldn't mind that sooner rather than later but it's all up in the air at the moment so I'm letting my lawyer sort that management stuff out," he said.

"I'm not too focused on where I'm going to play next year."

Addo-Carr said he was in great shape ahead of the Indigenous All-Stars match on the Gold Coast on February 22 and also planned to play in Melbourne's NRL trial against North Queensland a week later.

"I missed out on the trial games last year and I didn't feel too good in round one," he said.

"I would definitely love to play in the trial against the Cowboys."

Meanwhile, Melbourne are hopeful of completing the player-swap involving their young hooker Harry Grant and Wests Tigers centre Paul Momirovski this week.

The clubs have agreed to the unique one-season trade and are waiting for a sign-off from the NRL.
