Sydney Roosters star James Tedesco did well to avoid a more serious concussion in Saturday's win over Parramatta, says coach Trent Robinson.

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has allayed any fears over a serious concussion to star James Tedesco, saying it could've been worse.

Tedesco gave the Roosters fans a real fright on Saturday after laying prone for several minutes in their comeback NRL victory over Parramatta.

The reigning Dally M medallist got knocked out following his attempted tackle on a flying Maika Sivo, with the back of his head hitting the Bankwest Stadium turf.

Tedesco eventually rose to his feet on walked from the field, but didn't return for the final 20 minutes of the high-quality contest.

Robinson said his fullback had pulled up okay after the game before hailing his bravery in trying to deny Sivo a crucial try.

"He's good. We were talking about what he could've done. He actually was really well prepared," he said.

"You could see, he knew he had to brace, he actually came forward. He knew he had to steal himself for Sivo's physicality close to the line there. And it didn't work.

"A lot of courage in that in the way that he attacked it.

"But that's why Sivo's the player he is as well."

Robinson also praised the performance of winger Daniel Tupou, who shook off what looked to be a nasty leg injury in the opening exchanges.

Tupou finished the match with 159 metres, five tackle busts and a try.

"He looked like he couldn't walk," Robinson said of the injury.

"He just couldn't move, I thought, this isn't getting better, we've got (Mitch Aubusson) down there, and then Toops just got a little bit more freedom.

"The next 15 minutes, he was just getting through it. And then the man grew the longer the game went. There's some character right there."

Robinson was proud of his team's response after losing Tedesco, as well as the lead, midway through the second half.

They were the first team to defeat the ladder-leading Eels this season.

"We got a good insight into what guys are going to do in tough circumstances, which is a great lesson in round six," Robinson said.
