Alarm bells - and boos - are ringing for Brisbane after they were upset 30-12 by NRL battlers Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, slumping to their fifth straight loss.
Already under the pump, coach Anthony Seibold is now under enormous pressure after the Broncos were ambushed by the Titans who grabbed a shock 22-0 halftime lead.
Marking the first time a Broncos game allowed fans since the competition's resumption, the 6,262-strong crowd were so disgusted they booed the hosts off the field at the break.
Their mood wouldn't have improved as the Titans sealed their biggest win over the Broncos, eclipsing their 34-18 result in 2009, and their third straight win over their arch rivals.
Nothing went right for Brisbane.
They were reduced to 11 men on the field in the dying moments after enforcer Matt Lodge went off with left knee injury, winger Corey Oates was sin binned and they ran out of interchanges with 16 minutes left.
Adding further insult, Brisbane will drop to the bottom of the ladder if Canterbury defeat Wests Tigers on Sunday.
But asked if he feared he may lose his job, Seibold said: "I haven't even thought about that.
"I am trying to stay in the present. I have a five-year deal here.
"I think I am the right person to bring this group through but if the board think otherwise...then they will tell me.
"(But) I am not looking over my shoulder."
It marks the first time in eight years Brisbane have dropped five straight and the ninth time in club history.
The club record is eight straight losses.
The only positive for Brisbane was that they scored a second-half point for the first time since the competition's resumption.
The Broncos cut the deficit to 24-12 by the 57th minute when veteran Ben Te'o crashed over and centre Herbie Farnworth pounced on a clever Brodie Croft grubber.
But after Xavier Coates was denied a 62nd-minute try due to an obstruction, the Titans iced the result with Phillip Sami crashing over in the 75th minute.
Winger Anthony Don scored a double in Gold Coast's second win in 18 games.
Brisbane fullback Tesi Niu had a nightmare NRL starting debut, with the Titans making the Broncos pay for two clangers.
Niu dropped a towering Ash Taylor bomb and Tyrone Peachey regathered to cleverly offload for giant prop Sam Lisone to crash over in the 30th minute.
Niu was left red-faced again when his pass was intercepted by Don who raced 50m to score.
The Titans continued to dominate despite damaging front-rower Moeaki Fotuaika being sin binned in the 38th minute for a contentious professional foul.
"We knew the Broncos were a bit down as we were, but it was important we kept that self belief in the squad (with a win)," Titans coach Justin Holbrook said.
