South Sydney's 60-8 mauling of the Sydney Roosters saw records tumble for both NRL clubs.

WHAT RECORDS WERE BROKEN IN SOUTH SYDNEY'S FLOGGING OF THE ROOSTERS

* The 60-8 win was Souths' biggest against Sydney Roosters, and their fifth largest ever against any team.

* It was also the Rabbitohs' biggest winning margin in 40 years, dating back to their 59-5 pounding of Parramatta in 1980.

* It was the first time the Rabbitohs have put on 60 points since way back in 1937 against University.

* The 60 points conceded was the most the Roosters have let in for a decade, and also their most under coach Trent Robinson.

* It marked the fourth worst loss in the Roosters' history.

* Most concerning for the Roosters, no team has ever won the premiership after conceding 50 points in a match. Newcastle's 49 let in against Cronulla in 2001 is the most by an eventual premier.

* Alex Johnston became the first Souths players since Harold Horder in 1917 to score two five-try hauls for the club. Johnston's other came in 2017 against Penrith.

* Johnston also became the sixth Rabbitoh to score 100 first-grade tries for the club. He finished the night on 103, fourth all-time at Souths after going above Horder (102) and Bob McCarthy (100).

* Johnston is now the NRL's leading try-scorer, He last won the award in 2014.

* Adam Reynolds' 10 goals in a match was just one shy of Eric Simms' Souths' record of 11. It was the most of any Rabbitoh since Simms in 1969.
