THE NRL DALLY M TEAM OF THE YEAR

1. Clint Gutherson - Led Parramatta in attack this season, inspiring the side to the second week of the NRL finals. The Eels captain finished the season with 10 tries and 17 try-assists.

2. David Nofoaluma - Almost became the first Wests Tiger in history to top the NRL's try-scoring charts with 17. Was easily the club's best in a year where they missed the finals.

3. Kotoni Staggs - One of Brisbane's few bright sparks in a truly horrible season up north. Scored the try of the year when he barged, stepped and dummied his way through St George Illawarra.

4. Stephen Crichton - Produced the goods in his first full season of NRL at Penrith. Has scored 16 tries as part of a dangerous left edge attack that has helped them to the grand final.

5. Josh Addo-Carr - You can't beat speed, especially on the wing. Scored 16 tries and will be a serious threat come Sunday night in the grand final for Melbourne.

6. Jack Wighton - Shock winner of the game's top prize. Scored the most tries of all halves as his ability to choose when to run again improved to make him a constant threat for Canberra.

7. Nathan Cleary - Had the season of his life to help take Penrith to 17 straight wins and the grand final. Set up 24 tries while his kicking game is easily the best in the league.

8. Josh Papalii - Continues to be the best and most devastating prop in the game. Carried an undermanned Canberra pack on his back and knocked over plenty of opposition players in the process.

9. Cameron Smith - Could be his last season but the veteran looked like he could play until age 40 this year. Despite the shortened competition, set up as many tries for Melbourne this season as any other year in his career.

10. James Fisher-Harris - Been a consistent performer for Penrith for a number of years but this season has been his best. Averaged 154 metres per game and is always reliable in defence.

11. Viliame Kikau - A wrecking-ball on Penrith's left edge. His athletic ability is almost just as impressive as his size. A big inclusion for the grand final.

12. Tohu Harris - A pillar of strength in the most difficult season in the Warriors' history. Just never let up as he played every game and averaged 144 metres.

13. Isaah Yeo - Another Panther to have a career-best year. The move to the middle at lock really suited him as he got through a ton of work in both attack and defence.

Coach: Ivan Cleary - Becomes part of the first father-son combination to be named in the Dally M team of the year. Won this award in 2014 at Penrith, but the work he's done this year is even more impressive.
