As much as he was missed in game two, Cameron Munster returned to spark Queensland to State of Origin glory at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday.

The missing piece for Queensland in game two, Cameron Munster's State of Origin return was the spark for the Maroons in Wednesday's decider.

The Melbourne playmaker showed no signs of his game-two head knock as he ran NSW ragged at Suncorp Stadium in the opening half of Queensland's game three 20-14 win.

Labelled by coach Wayne Bennett as one of the three best players in Queensland's squad, Munster's inspiration led to a vital try for the Maroons just before halftime.

The 26-year-old kicked once down the left side in the dying stages of the half, regathered and then kicked again in the same motion as Queensland charged down the field.

From the next play-the-ball, Munster got involved again and kicked quickly cross-field where the ball eventually found its way to debutant winger Edrick Lee to score.

Munster's first half display was electric, with the Maroons surging on the back of his energy and impact.

It was a performance which earned high praise from Queensland legend Darren Lockyer.

"He's been the best player on the field by a couple of lengths," Lockyer told the Nine Network at the break.

"He's just so good. He is so energetic and just wants to get involved particularly down the left edge."

After coming into the team at the tail end of Queensland's era of dominance alongside stars such as Greg Inglis, Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk, Wednesday was Munster's turn to lead his team to glory.

"First series win without the big boys, and, yeah, the boys done a really great job," Munster said.

"Wayne, Mal (Meninga), the coaching staff, got us up tonight. Let's celebrate!"
