Knights sign former Bulldogs forward

3 minute read

Newcastle have signed former Canterbury forward Sauaso Sue for the 2021 NRL season with hopes he will add steel to their pack.

Newcastle have continued renovations on their forward pack after signing former Canterbury prop Sauaso Sue on a two-year NRL deal.

The former Wests Tigers and Bulldogs prop will join NSW forward Tyson Frizell at the Knights from next season as the club looks to add steel to the pack.

Sue has played the past two seasons with the Bulldogs primarily as a bench forward but previously spent six years with the Tigers.

The 28-year-old has played 142 NRL games as well as 10 Tests for Samoa and can be used in the middle or on an edge.

It comes after the club re-signed Josh King for next season and released local product Sione Mata'utia to St Helens from next year.

The Knights have also lost Aidan Guerra and Tim Glasby from their pack for next season after the former representative players retired, as well as Herman Ese'ese to the Gold Coast.

Newcastle are desperate to add grit to the pack for 2021 after being bundled out of the NRL finals in week one this season.

The club also confirmed the signing of English youth international Bailey Hodgson on a three-year deal.

Hodgson, the nephew of Canberra Raiders and England Test hooker Josh Hodgson, arrives in Australia on Saturday and will enter two weeks quarantine before linking up with the Knights.
