Concussion rules Matterson out for Eels

3 minute read

Ryan Matterson's ongoing concussion concerns have forced Parramatta to rule the second-rower out of their round-five NRL clash with St George Illawarra.

Parramatta will push back Ryan Matterson's return from a concussion after ruling him out of Sunday's clash with St George Illawarra.

Matterson was left dazed after a hit from Melbourne's Felise Kaufusi in round two and has not played since the incident.

He is back training and was first due to return against Wests Tigers last Monday before being a late withdrawal.

Parramatta medical staff then took a similar step on Saturday, with the 26-year-old still suffering ongoing symptoms.

Matterson's history of concussions has been of concern.

He missed two games after a head knock last year, when the Eels took another cautious comeback path.

Matterson's issues date back to his time at both the Tigers and the Sydney Roosters, prompting the Eels to be mindful of his welfare throughout.
