Tim Sheens' love affair with Wests Tigers is back on, with the former mentor appointed Head of Football Performance at the NRL club.

Sheens, a fan favourite after guiding the Tigers to their only premiership in 2005, was subsequently sacked by the joint-venture club in 2012.

The former Kangaroos mentor proceeded to take them to court, but that's now in the past with the Tigers announcing his appointment with immediate effect.

"Tim is revered as part of Wests Tigers' history and his appointment in this new role will make him a rich part of our future," said Tigers chair Lee Hagipantelis.

"In the history of the game, very few have enjoyed Tim's experience and gravitas and what he will be able to bring to Wests Tigers will greatly enhance the club and create opportunities to be the best that we can be."

Sheens said he was looking forward to returning to the Tigers in the new role.

"This role is extremely exciting as it allows me to work and utilise my experience, especially around pathways, development and talent identification."

Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said Sheens would be a tremendous asset for the club.

"Having Tim take on this new role will significantly strengthen our football department as a whole," he said.

While the main focus of the role is to identify talent and provide pathways for young players, coach Michael Maguire can also call on Sheen's experience should he require it.

Sheen's appointment co-incides with the Tigers posting back to back wins for the first time this season following Friday night's upset win over log-leaders Penrith.
