South Sydney have made Australian rugby league history, becoming the only first-grade team in the history of the code to score 30 or more points in eight straight games as they thrashed Gold Coast.

The high-flying Rabbitohs made it 10 NRL wins in a row as they romped to a 36-6 victory over the Titans at CBUS Super Stadium.

With halves Adam Reynolds and Cody Walker dominant, Souths were out of sight by halftime as they charged to a 24-0 lead at the break.

Coach Wayne Bennett admitted his team's intensity dropped in the second half as the third-placed Rabbitohs' attentions started to turn towards a mouthwatering clash with second-placed Penrith next week.

"It was pretty good first half. Second half got hard to watch," Bennett said.

"We haven't been doing it too much.

"Three games to go in the season. They know they've got a lot of big games in front of them so I understood pretty much what happened in the second half.

"I'm realistic."

Reynolds ended the game with 16 points while Braidon Burns and Josh Mansour both scored doubles for the rampant Rabbitohs.

Walker's three try assists take his tally to 34 this season, just six behind the all-time record for that stat by Parramatta's Tim Smith in 2005.

Souths' other key attacking weapon Latrell Mitchell opened the scoring with his 10th try of the season and finished the game with seven tackle busts, a try assist and 174 run metres including 33 post-contact metres.

The Titans' only joy was winger Corey Thompson capping off a slick backline move in the 66th minute as their three-game winning run came to a shuddering halt.

While defeat doesn't end Gold Coast's hopes of ending a five-year finals drought, with table-topping Melbourne to come next week, coach Justin Holbrook conceded his team had been given a reality check that they have to bounce back from quickly.

"We just made too many errors today," Holbrook said.

"We got caught trying to continue on from last week's game rather than starting again fresh.

"Pushed passes and took some poor options and they just buried us for it.

"We've got to make sure we learn from that and get that right for next week."

Gold Coast also had front-rower Jaimin Jolliffe placed on report in the second half to compound Holbrook's woes.
