* Result: Parramatta 28 bt Newcastle 20 at Browne Park, Rockhampton.
* Key moment: Parramatta centre Will Penisini was hauled down as he prepared to pounce on a Clint Gutherson grubberkick in the 76th minute. After a lengthy bunker review, and despite replays suggesting the ball had hit the ground before Gutherson kicked it, a penalty try was awarded to seal the victory for the Eels.
* Key stat: Enari Tuala's three tries for Newcastle made him the first Knights' player to score a hat-trick in a finals match.
* Injuries/suspensions: Newcastle's Brodie Jones failed a first-half HIA while veteran Parramatta winger Blake Ferguson needed his right knee strapped but played out the match. Parramatta trio Marata Niukore (late tackle), Waqa Blake (high tackle) and Junior Paulo (shoulder charge) were all placed on report.
