Rising Cronulla playmaker Luke Metcalf will quit the Sharks for the Warriors in the 2023 NRL season.

Emerging Cronulla playmaker Luke Metcalf will join the Warriors in the 2023 NRL season after securing a two-year contract with the club.

Metcalf, who has six NRL games under his belt after switching from Manly to the Sharks last year, is comfortable playing in the halves or at fullback.

"Luke was really impressive when he came into the NRL late in the season," said Warriors head coach Nathan Brown.

"He had to wait for his chance after seeing next to no football in 2020 because of Covid but he showed just why he has been so highly regarded coming through the grades with both the Sharks and Manly."

Knee injuries had also halted Metcalf's progress and it wasn't until late in the 2021 season that the 22-year-old was thrust into the top grade.

Returning Warriors halfback Shaun Johnson holds Metcalf in high regard following their time together at the Sharks.

"With Luke we've been able to sign another terrific young talent," said Warriors CEO Cameron George.

"He has been on our radar for some time and will add huge value to our club from 2023."

Metcalf's acquisition places further questions over the long-term role of Chanel Harris-Tevita at the club.

Harris-Tevita has less than 12 months to run on his current contract and has previously indicated that he would look to test his value on the open market.

But with Johnson, former Gold Coast halfback Ash Taylor and Metcalf all agreeing to terms with the Warriors over recent months, the future of the Samoan international at the club is under a cloud.
