Battered Knights trio sent for scans

3 minute read

Three Newcastle Knights players are headed for scans after sustaining injuries in the side's big loss to Manly on Thursday night.

Fallout from Newcastle's disastrous 30-6 NRL loss to Manly on Thursday night is continuing, with a number of players set for injury stints on the sidelines.

Highlighting the injury woes is prop Jiriah Momoisea, sent for scans after dislocating his elbow in gruesome fashion in the first half.

Doctors put the 23-year-old Kiwi's elbow back in place in the rooms, but he would miss a fair chunk of time should he require surgery.

Winger Dominic Young is also off for scans and is likely to need surgery and miss a few weeks, having hurt his knee in the process of scoring a try that was later called back.

Halfback Adam Clune also hurt a knee and is heading for scans, although it is unlikely he will need surgery. At most he is likely to be out one or two weeks.

The good news for the Knights is star second-rower Tyson Frizell's ankle injury will be fine with rest, while fellow forward Brodie Jones is also hopeful to face St George Illawarra on Sunday week.

The Knights will enjoy the luxury of a much-needed 10-day turnaround having played four games in 19 days

Prop David Klemmer (knee), centre Hymel Hunt (knee) and second-rower Jack Johns (shoulder) are all still sidelined but close to a recall.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
