Souths seek answers on handling errors

South Sydney are coughing up more ball than any other NRL team in 2022 and coach Jason Demetriou wants his team to sort out the issue.

South Sydney coach Jason Demetriou has implored his side to clean up their attack after suddenly becoming the most error-riddled side in the NRL.

The Rabbitohs' shock 23-22 loss to Wests Tigers marked their fourth defeat of 2022, leaving last year's grand finalists on the verge of dropping out of the top eight.

Souths have completed at less than 75 per cent in each of their losses, averaging 14.1 errors per game this year and two more than the next worst team.

And Demetriou is well aware it must be sorted before Friday night's clash against Manly.

"It's something we continually talk about," Demetriou said.

"It's not just one person every week, it's different people at different stages of the game. It's errors at crucial times.

"It's happened multiple times this year off the back of points that we come up with an error.

"I don't think it's a matter of shape, execution and things like that.

"It's individuals - loose carries, not taking ownership of the footy and pushing loose passes that we don't need to push."

Also concerning for the Rabbitohs was the way they failed to close out the match after drawing level at 22-22.

The club have desperately wanted to distance themselves from the absence of Adam Reynolds this year, following his exit to Brisbane.

Without the game's best ice man on Saturday night, the Rabbitohs pushed a pass and made an error on one late attack while the ball found Jai Arrow on the last for another.

The forward took a rare shot at a field goal, but it barely got off the ground and from the 20-metre tap the Tigers were able to build field position for Luke Brooks' winning shot.

"We got ourselves in the position for Lachy to kick, they had outstanding inside pressure," Demetriou said.

"It ended up in Jai's hands. It's not ideal."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
