Wests Tigers are looking to win three straight games under coach Michael Maguire for the first time when they clash with St George Illawarra at WIN Stadium.

Fresh off two nail-biting field goal victories, Wests Tigers are hunting more firsts when they clash with St George Illawarra in Wollongong.

The Tigers have never strung three consecutive victories together under coach Michael Maguire with their last triple streak coming in early 2018.

Their opposition, also on a two-game winning streak, are trying to make it three on the trot for the first time since they won four in a row from rounds two to five in 2021.

A firm belief in their game plan and spine has seen the Tigers turn around 0-5 start to the season with two major wins over Parramatta and South Sydney.

Much of it has stemmed from the leadership and direction of Jackson Hastings and Luke Brooks.

"The conversations between Jacko and Booksy add to what allows you to play the style of what we have been," Maguire said on the eve of the clash.

"Having characters like that (Hastings) is what makes a team.

"We're just ready to go again, and we all acknowledge where we are and we're going to make sure that we turn up ready to go."

Should the result come down to the wire again, the Tigers could become just the second team ever to win three straight by one point since Canterbury did in 2014.

Dragons coach Anthony Griffin expects a quality contest on Sunday at WIN Stadium noting his opposition have done the basics right in their recent successful run.

"They're in really good form," Griffin told reporters.

"They do those simple things around the ruck really well, they're great at slowing the play-the-ball down and they play the ball really fast.

"So it's going to be a big challenge for us tomorrow."

Jack Bird has been named at five-eighth after dealing with an arm injury and Griffin said just 24 hours out from kick-off he's still questionable.

Josh McGuire replaces Jaydn Su'A (ankle) in the back row with Tyrell Fuimaono shifting to the interchange bench.

For the Tigers, Daine Laurie is out with a knee injury and Starford To'a his replacement at fullback while Kelma Tuilagi returns to the back row after missing last week due to illness.
