Kodi Nikorima has signed with South Sydney until the end of the 2023 NRL season, meaning he can face the Warriors just five days after exiting the club.

Kodi Nikorima could run out against the Warriors just five days after exiting the NRL team's Redcliffe camp following an immediate switch to South Sydney.

Nikorima's mid-season move was made official on Monday morning, signing a one-and-a-half year deal with the Rabbitohs and ending his stint with the Warriors.

He will join the Rabbitohs this week, and AAP has been told there is no clause in his contract to stop him from playing against his old club.

It means he will be available for selection for Saturday's Magic Round clash against his former Warriors teammates.

After playing as the Warriors' first-choice five-eighth for the majority of last year, Nikorima fell out of favour with the club and has not featured since round six.

The Warriors have since brought in North Queensland playmaker Daejarn Asi and contract talks loom with fellow half Chanel Harris-Tavita.

The club have also lured playmaker Ronald Volkman and hooker Freddy Lussick across from the Sydney Roosters, with officials confirming a mid-season move on Monday

Nikorima promises to be a valuable addition for the Rabbitohs.

The former Kiwis No.7 will likely fill the utility role the club had planned for Anthony Milford, before off-season trouble saw his contract go unregistered.

Blake Taaffe was also destined to play that role off the bench in 2022, but Latrell Mitchell's hamstring injury means he is currently filling in at fullback.

He could also play hooker during the State of Origin period, with Damien Cook on NSW duties.

"Kodi has been a strong performer at NRL and international level for a number of seasons now, across many positions including all of the key spine positions," Souths head of football Mark Ellison said.

"He will add depth to our side across many facets of the game and we feel he can bring another dimension to our attack as well as strength to our defence when he is on the field."
