Newcastle Jets' coach Ernie Merrick will have to wait to discover if he's successfully appealed against his $3000 fine for accusing A-League video referees of bias.

Merrick was slapped with the sanction after speaking out following a 2-0 loss to Perth in January where the Jets were knocked back on several penalty shouts.

"If it's against us it'd be given, we've had four penalties against us and we haven't got a penalty this year," Merrick said after the match.

The Jets boss attended a hearing by an FFA independent disciplinary and ethics committee in Sydney on Tuesday considering the appeal.

The committee has reserved its determination until a later date.
