Brisbane goalkeeper Jamie Young will face Sydney FC in their A-League clash after being a late withdrawal for the Roar's last outing against Melbourne Victory.
He might have to be dragged off the training field to prevent a recurrence of the bad back which had ruled him out of their last match against Melbourne Victory, but Brisbane goalkeeper Jamie Young is all set to face Sydney FC.
The 33-year-old was a late omission from the 2-1 loss to Victory at Marvel Stadium on March 16 after a back problem prevented him travelling to Melbourne with the squad.
Young has made the most of the international break to recover from the complaint and trained on Monday ahead of Friday's visit by the Sky Blues to Suncorp Stadium.
In fact Young was the last to leave the training ground in 30-plus temperatures as he ran through a series of extra drills with understudy Brendan White.
"He's been in training; he's plaguing everybody as normal; can't get him off the training pitch so he's good to go," interim coach Darren Davies said.
Young didn't play the last time Brisbane hosted Sydney in February due to suspension, with an undermanned Roar coming from behind to claim a 2-1 win in dramatic circumstances.
That victory was Davies' first as the Roar boss and snapped a 12-game winless run stretching back to before John Aloisi's departure pre-Christmas.
As well as Young, the Roar beat Steve Corica's more-fancied Sydney outfit without defenders Dane Ingham and Daniel Bowles due to suspension. And they were forced to throw on 17-year-old Izack Powell for his A-League debut after Luke DeVere and Jack Hingert succumbed to first-half knee injuries.
"That just shows that even though we've had difficult times this season, the boys have still pulled together. We're in there - we're fighting for everything," Davies said.
"Sydney are a good side. They're obviously second in the league. They're looking to secure their position in the finals - chasing down Perth, a (Asian) Champions League spot - so there's plenty to play for from their point of view as well."
