Galekovic is City A-League player of year

Goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has been named the Melbourne City A-League player of the year.

Veteran goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has won Melbourne City's player of the year award.

The 37-year-old custodian and Socceroos representative also won City's clubman of the year.

Ritchie De Laet was the other big winner at City's annual awards ceremony on Saturday night at Melbourne's Crown Palladium.

The Belgian international defender won supporters' player of the year and was the club's joint Golden Boot winner with Riley McGree.

Both men finished with seven goals, De Laet more than doubling his career goal tally across 10-plus years in Europe.
