Danish midfielder Thomas Kristensen has become the latest Brisbane player to depart the Roar, announcing he'll leave the A-League club after three seasons.

The 36-year-old will return to Denmark, leaving new coach Robbie Fowler's side with a record of 60 games, in which he scored six goals.

The veteran is the latest player to leave the Roar with club legends Matt McKay and Henrique also exiting.

McKay has retired after playing his 302nd match for the club in Thursday's 5-3 loss to Adelaide, while Brazilian forward Henrique has also played his last game for Brisbane.

French marquee man Eric Bautheac's two-year contract expires at the end of the month and he's said he'll hold talks with newly appointed coach Fowler before deciding his future.

Several other players are expected to leave the club, which finished second-last this season after winning just four games from 27 in 2019-20, conceding a league-record 71 goals.

Ex-Socceroo Brett Holman hasn't been seen all season due to a knee injury while Kristensen's fellow Dane Tobias Mikkelsen's future is also uncertain.

Mid-season signings Eli Babalj, Charlie Lokoli-Ngoy and Ruon Tongyik are also yet to be locked in to new deals.
