Jets axe six including Vargas in A-League

3 minute read

Newcastle have cut six players from their A-League roster, including Venezuelan Ronald Vargas.

Newcastle have decided to part ways with Venezuelan Ronald Vargas, with five other players also cut by the A-League club.

Vargas suffered a horrific injury in round three last season when he broke and dislocated his ankle while playing against Brisbane.

The Venezuelan international returned later that season to play a part in the club's run to the grand final, and he went on to score five goals in 21 appearances this campaign.

However, the 32-year-old was among a big group of casualties who copped the axe after Newcastle's disappointing 2018-19.

Daniel Georgievski, Jair, Nick Cowburn, Jake Adelson and Kwabena Appiah were the others let go by the club.
