A-League grand final in Sunday twilight

3 minute read

Football Federation Australia says the A-League grand final will be held on Sunday week in a twilight timeslot in Perth.

The A-League grand final in Perth has been scheduled for Sunday week in a twilight timeslot.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) says the Glory's home decider against Sydney FC or Melbourne Victory will start at 4.30pm local time (6.30pm AEST).

The FFA says the Sunday final avoids a clash with next Saturday's federal election, while also giving more time for Sydney or Victory to recover from midweek Asian Champions League (ACL) games.

The Sky Blues have a Tuesday night ACL fixture, with Victory playing in the league the following night.

"With the federal election scheduled for Saturday 18 May, it was agreed by all parties that it is in the best interest of the competition to schedule our showpiece event on Sunday 19 May to allow for maximum visibility," the FFA head of leagues, Greg O'Rourke, said in a statement.

Sydney host Victory on Sunday night in a semi-final with the winner to play the Glory in the A-League decider.
